Industry Overview

Big data centers generally include IDC, comprehensive date room, etc., with high cabinet density and great heat generation. Chilled water air-conditioning systems are mostly used, and room-level or row-to-column-level air conditioners are used indoors, and hot and cold aisles are isolated or closed. The date room is airtight, and the refrigeration cycle runs throughout the year, which consumes a lot of energy. At present, the PUE is more than 1.6.

With the geometric growth of the size and number of data centers, as well as the intensive introduction of national energy strategic policies, the implementation of the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goal and the mandatory restrictions on the PUE value of data centers. Making full use of natural cold sources, introducing new technologies, reducing energy consumption, and improving system energy efficiency have become urgent issues for data centers.


Aolan Energy Saving Solution Advantages

Aolan evaporative cooling technology adopts different schemes according to different regional meteorological conditions, different building scales and different application scenarios.

1. In the cold and dry areas in the north, the indirect evaporative high temperature chiller + terminal scheme, or the indirect evaporative AHU scheme, or the direct evaporative scheme (in areas with better air quality), most of the PUE can be lower than 1.2.

2. In other medium-humidity areas in the north, the indirect evaporative high temperature chiller + terminal + mechanical refrigeration scheme, or the indirect evaporative AHU + mechanical refrigeration scheme, or the evaporative + mechanical refrigeration scheme (in areas with better air quality), most of the PUE can be lower than 1.25.

3. In the southern region,evaporative + indirect evaporative cooling tower + traditional air conditioning is adopted, and most of the PUE can be lower than 1.3.

2. Data center of a telecommunications company in London: The cold source of this project: Aolan evaporative air cooler is used as the cold source in spring and autumn and winter to maximize the use of natural cold source; in high temperature and high humidity weather, the air conditioner is turned on to assist in cooling, to minimize the System energy consumption. The PUE of this project is as low as 1.15.

3. A data center in Guangdong: The cold source of this project adopts Aolan multi-stage indirect evaporative cooling chiller + air-cooled chiller + cold storage tank, multi-stage indirect evaporative cooling chiller as the cold source in spring and autumn, winter, and cold storage in some periods cold source, realize the efficient conversion of natural cold source. In high temperature and high humidity weather, the air-cooled chiller is turned on to assist in cooling, and through the synergy and complementation of the natural cold source and the mechanical cold source, the stable utilization and cascade utilization of the natural cold source are realized under the condition of fluctuation, and the energy consumption of the system is minimized. The PUE of this project is less than 1.3 and the CLF is less than 0.2.

4.A data center in Fujian: This project adopts the indirect evaporative AHU+mechanical cooling scheme design. It operates under evaporative cooling conditions in spring and autumn and winter. In high temperature and high humidity weather, the mechanical refrigeration system is turned on to supplement cooling to minimize system energy consumption. The PUE of this project can be as low as 1.3.
